Route Changes - 104km & 80km

Terrey Hills area

Route Changes - 104km & 80km

The 104km and 80km routes have been changed in the Terrey Hills area.

■  104km & 80km Riders outbound on BOORALIE RD now turn left into NERANG AVE at the 42.1km mark.

■  The new route rejoins McCarrs Creek Rd from Coreen Ave via Cowrang Ave, Milsted Rd at 43km.

■  On the return leg, riders turn off McCarrs Creek Rd into Coreen Ave at the 86.2km mark.

■  The route rejoins BOORALIE RD from DANDENONG RD via Garrett Ave and Beltana Ave  at 87km

To be clear:  104km and 80km Riders no longer PASS THROUGH THE ROUNDABOUT adjacent to MONA VALE Rd or the TERREY HILLS SHOPS. This is because the roundabout at this point has often been very congested.

Inaugural Bobbo Ambassador

Rupert Guinness

Bobbo is proud to announce Rupert Guinness, inaugural Bobbo Ambassador!

 Rupert, a highly respected sports journalist, author and cyclist is Australia’s foremost ultra-endurance athlete. His numerous rides include the Indi Pac from Fremantle to Sydney and the 3700 km ride from Darwin via Uluru to Adelaide. He is now preparing for the gruelling 2022 Ride Across America. Rupert uses these platforms to heighten awareness and understanding of mental health and well being so it's no surprise that he readily accepted Bobbo’s invitation to be their inaugural Ambassador, in the knowledge that Bobbo proceeds to support Lifeline in delivering their essential counselling services.

“I hope my 35 year-plus experience as a sports journalist and book author, my sense of adventure to step out of the box and expose myself to vulnerability in various challenges and my commitment to delivering the message of the importance of mental health and wellbeing can contribute in some way to helping others. Signed copies of  Overlander, Rupert’s best selling account of his Indi Pac ride across Australia will be awarded to incentivise and reward Bobbo fundraising achievements.

Kieser Training & Strengthening

Training for the Bobbo. Kieser, experts in training and strengthening are proud to partner with the Bobbo. Read for Kieser’s recommended training and strengthening program to help you prepare for the Bobbo. Kieser are proud to have naming rights to the Kieser Klimb a 1.9 km ascent from Illawong Bay to the Cottage Point turn off. Qualified physiotherapy staff manage the Kieser Physiotherapy Marquee and welcome your visit after the ride.

Celebrating our 10th ride in 2022, the Bobbo is firmly shaping up as the classic charity ride in northern Sydney.  Since our first ride in 2012 (2020 didn't happen due to Covid), we've gone from strength to strength, and it's become a hugely popular ride - so a huge thanks to everyone who has supported the Bobbo, Lifeline, and our other charities.  In particular, we'd like to thank and congratulate our long time supporters, who have ridden at least 8 of the rides:

Environment

Keeping the Bobbo green

We want to keep the Bobbo green. To that end, we are:

■  Encouraging riders to reduce waste, and re-use and recycle where possible

■  Making water available at the drink stops and Karuah from containers, bypassing the need for plastic water bottles;

■  Asking our vendors to consider using recyclable or biodegradable cutlery, plates and cups;

■  Asking our coffee vendors to consider the provision of non-dairy options;

■  At Karuah, providing special purpose bins for re-cyclable waste material; 

■  Encouraging participants to use public transport or car pooling to and from the event – which will also improve traffic in the immediate vicinity and ease the pressure on our neighbours.
